Island of Brač is the largest, the highest and the more varied of the islands of Central Dalmatia. Its tallest peak, Vidova gora, or Mount St. Vid, stands at 778 m, making it the highest island point in the Adriatic.
Sumartin is the youngest coastal town in the east part of the island Brač. Sumartin was founded in the seventeenth century by refugees driven out of the continent by the Turks. The port is used by the car ferry and fishing boats. Administratively belongs to the municipality Selca.
